Birmingham, AL & San Francisco, CA – August 5, 2026 – McLeod Software, a leading provider of transportation management and trucking software solutions, and Augment, the AI productivity platform for supply chain, today announced a new integration that brings AI-powered workflow automation directly into McLeod's PowerBroker® Transportation Management System. The integration enables two of the highest-volume workflows in freight brokerage — carrier selection and track and trace — giving teams a faster, smarter way to source capacity and keep shipments moving. CRST, one of the largest transportation and logistics companies in the United States, is among the first customers running the integration live.
In freight, carrier selection and shipment tracking are two of the most coordination-intensive parts of the job. Every load requires reaching out to carriers, fielding inbound inquiries, negotiating rates, validating compliance, and updating the TMS — followed by a continuous cycle of status checks and exception handling until the freight delivers. That coordination tax drains productivity, delays decisions, and makes it harder to move fast on available capacity before it disappears.
The integration connects Augie, Augment's freight-native AI teammate, to PowerBroker®'s Digital Freight Matching (DFM) capabilities. Augie handles the carrier communication and shipment visibility work that flows through DFM — processing inbound calls and emails, responding to rate inquiries, validating carriers, providing load status updates, and keeping McLeod current throughout — so operators can focus on the relationships and judgment calls that actually win business. Because Augie works with context drawn from operational data, carrier history, company policies, and institutional knowledge, it doesn't just respond to carriers — it responds the way your best operator would.
How It Works
Seamless Activation: Augie connects through PowerBroker's® DFM integration and works entirely within your existing McLeod workflow — no new system to learn, no toggling between tools.
Carrier Communication Automation: Augie handles inbound and outbound carrier coordination across email and phone — fielding inquiries, negotiating rates, and confirming bookings through DFM.
In-Context Data Capture: Load updates and carrier interactions are logged directly within McLeod, keeping records accurate and teams aligned without extra manual effort.
Real-Time Sync: Augie receives instant updates from McLeod the moment relevant data changes, staying continuously aware of manual edits a rep makes — so it works side-by-side with your team in real time.
Customer Benefits
Cover More Loads, Faster: Augie works carrier outreach in real time, so brokers aren't losing capacity to slower competitors while managing other tasks.
Reclaimed Broker Capacity: Frees brokers from repetitive carrier communication and status update requests so they can focus on customer relationships, exception management, and higher-margin decisions.
Better Margin Per Load: Faster carrier coordination and consistent rate negotiation means tighter execution and stronger margins across the board.
Scalable Operations: Teams can handle more volume without proportionally adding headcount — Augie extends what your existing team can do.
Executive Perspectives
"At CRST, we view McLeod and Augie as a stack: the TMS serves as our system of record, while Augie operates as our system of action. Augie handles load-related tasks, like building and negotiating, allowing operations to focus on higher-value work. This co-working model – with AI and humans sharing the logistics process – is essential for driving productivity.”
— Lakshmikanth Gomathinathan, VP of Transportation Technology, CRST
"Carrier selection is one of the highest-volume, most repetitive coordination jobs in freight brokerage — and it's exactly the kind of work where AI can have an immediate, measurable impact. Every time a broker has to stop what they're doing to field a carrier call or chase down a rate, that's time not spent on the customer or the next load. Bringing Augie directly into PowerBroker® means McLeod customers can start recovering that time inside the system they already run their business on."
— Harish Abbott, Co-Founder & CEO, Augment
"McLeod customers running PowerBroker® are managing high volumes of carrier communication every day, and that coordination work is exactly where AI can have the most immediate impact. Our integration with Augment gives brokers a practical way to apply AI inside McLeod Software’s operational workflows they already rely on — without adding complexity or changing how their teams operate. We're excited to bring this to our customers."
— Ahmed Ebrahim, SVP of Strategic Alliances, McLeod Software
The announcement reflects McLeod's continued investment in its certified partner ecosystem, which now includes more than 140 integrated solutions that help customers extend and maximize their PowerBroker® investment.
